GROWING BIGGER ARMS 🤔🧠 Bigger, or more muscle? I see many people many of which are males gaining weight and throwing around heavier weights because the added arm girth looks appealing in extra small shirts as seen above.

However the principles of time under tension, progressive overload and consistency are always going to be the points we get back to. HOWEVER, to make things a little less dry here are my take aways for growing more muscle in your biceps, triceps & delt.

ISOLATE each into their own stimulation workout. If strapped for time supersetting is great however dedicating a session just to one muscle group will general increase total volume on that area and develop stronger Neuro muscular pathways over tjme.

Secondly - get strong AF in your compound bodyweight exercises. The arm pump that you can create through chin up/push up combos are insane especially if you don't have the cognitive function for

When you get up at 3am for a 5am pull day PT sesh (which then turned into a 4.30am sesh 🙈, with  85kg rack pulls going super smooth 💪🏋️‍♀️), and this bowl was all the pretty you could manage at that time of day 😬 Messy but super chocolaty proats topped with no added sugar choc, frozen fruit, fresh(ish) strawbs 🍓 (they needed used up), a dollop of @lotusbiscoffuk crunchy spread and 2 of their bikkies (one crumbled over), a crumbled up @lodough.co brownie and a drizzle of @sweetfreedomuk caramel shot 😋 Basically my evening oats. But at 3:30am in the morning 🤷‍♀️ Happy hump day 🐫🐪

Good morning my pretties! Just a reminder that there are many MANY ways to train and none of them are better than the others! Thanks to a fabulous toe injury I'm unable to do Bulgarian Split Squats, B Stance squats or any other of my beloved single leg variations 😭 Luckily I know that there are a billion ways to strengthen my legs so IT DOESN'T MATTER AT ALL 😘 .
This week I have mostly been training the Acro Leg Press with my handy 84kg weight. I've been progressing this by taking less weight on the hands, then not using hands at all, then deepening the press. My legs get a great stretch from it too! 🌈
Although injuries make me cranky, they're also sometimes really fun to work around. As my shoulder is also injured (!) I have been focusing on these and core, core, core 🔥 My arms are getting a nice rest and my core is getting the gainz! When my shoulder and foot are better I can get back to it having made loads of progress on things I usually focus on less in the meantime 💪 Win all round! 💖

Do you love a tasty looking meal in a nice restaurant or cafe? -
The reason these things draw us in is because the imagery of the food, and the appearance of it when it arrives at our table, is amazing. The chefs spend time to not only make it taste good, but look like you want to eat it. But why?

We eat with our eyes before our mouths! If something looks appetising, we all know that our mouths fill with saliva, and you are practically drooling at the plate of ribs and potatoes! Well that saliva is a mix of  digestive enzymes being released ready to start digesting food (how amazing is our body by the way, like it knows how to do this?!?). -
When you are trying to eat less energy than you expend, sometimes it’s hard to factor in lots of these visually appetising meals so we have to be creative. Rather than just slapping some food on a plate or in a bowl, spend a little extra time preparing the food, and presenting on your plate nicely such that you can barely turn off the stove before tucking in. -
Eating a little less or making more nutritious choices doesn’t have to be boring if we don’t want it to be! Part of my service is helping you find new meal and food ideas, and helping you get creative in the kitchen. Get in touch if you need help in this area. -

If you care about being strong then you must do these basic movement patterns. . . - lifting heavy weight overhead.
- picking heavy weight up of the ground.
- carrying heavy weight for time or distance.

If your goal is strength and you are avoid this, good luck with that. Deadlifts, squats, overhead presses, pull ups  and farmer's walks are really important which improves body strength if our goal strength, if our goal is to lose weight throught these exercises we speed up our metabolism and couse us to consume a large number of calories.

Suffering from post holiday blues...

Also suffering from post holiday bloat 😫🤰🏻 Anyone else get this?

A lot of alcohol was consumed and I ate a lot more crisps and sweets than I normally would’ve. Nutritious food choices were very few and far between 🙈 And now my stomach hates me. I’ve not stepped anywhere near the scales (sorry TP) as I know things will be unsettled right now.

So how do you cope with holiday weight gain when you’ve ripped the arse out of things?

In truth I’m still figuring this out myself 🤦🏻‍♀️ This is the first holiday I’ve had in 4yrs and the first time I’ve been completely out of my routine. Yes I’ll be completely open and honest and say I’ve had an emotional rollercoaster over the past few days. Feeling guilty for feeling this way and not practising what I preach with clients, essentially feeling like a fraud. But I’m only human and I had a great time. So many memories (a lot of photos to show for it but tbh Paul and I think these are best left away from social media as we are officially a pair of reprobates 🤣)...
-
But I have implemented a few things to get things settled both in my mind and also with my body;
🥩🍗 Making sure my protein is high again.
🥦🍌 Hitting my fibre intake every day.
🏋🏻‍♀️ Getting back in to normal training routine (also smashing out some PBs).
💆🏻‍♀️ Focusing on doing things that make me feel good like reading or going for walks.

A lot of alcohol was consumed and I ate a lot more crisps and sweets than I normally would’ve. Nutritious food choices were very few and far between 🙈 And now my stomach hates me. I’ve not stepped anywhere near the scales (sorry TP) as I know things will be unsettled right now.

In truth I’m still figuring this out myself 🤦🏻‍♀️ This is the first holiday I’ve had in 4yrs and the first time I’ve been completely out of my routine. Yes I’ll be completely open and honest and say I’ve had an emotional rollercoaster over the past few days. Feeling guilty for feeling this way and not practising what I preach with clients, essentially feeling like a fraud. But I’m only human and I had a great time. So many memories (a lot of photos to show for it but tbh Paul and I think these are best left away from social media as we are officially a pair of reprobates 🤣)...

But I have implemented a few things to get things settled both in my mind and also with my body;
🥩🍗 Making sure my protein is high again.
🥦🍌 Hitting my fibre intake every day.
🏋🏻‍♀️ Getting back in to normal training routine (also smashing out some PBs).
💆🏻‍♀️ Focusing on doing things that make me feel good like reading or going for walks.

Split Squats: An exercise you should be doing -

If you have the balance and strength to support your own body weight in this position here are 3 benefits to doing split squats as part of your lower body training
-

1) Little to no equipment needed: If it's your first time, bodyweight split squats will do just fine. As you get stronger, just grab a pair of dumbbells to keep the intensity high. That's great if you're travelling or doing a home workout and dont have access to machines or squat racks -

2) Bang for your buck: You're working so many muscles of the lower body from the quads, glutes, and hamstrings to an extent all in one movement. If time is a constraint and you want to make every session as efficient as possible, you'll get a lot more out of this exercise than doing a leg extension or hamstring curl -

3) Stepping stone for other leg exercises: If want to lunge or do any other advanced single leg exercise you need to master the split squat first. If you can move well with both feet on the ground you can then progress on to a lunge where the feet are moving
